It is about to be approved by the “College of party leaders in Brazil’s Congress, the Provisional Measure 540/11 whose primary objective is to create a new tax model for the pricing of cigarettes in Brazil for the next year, increasing the price of cigarettes in accordance with the last Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control held in Uruguay in 2010.

However, some legislative maneuvers to “put grafts” in the original MP 540/11 – a move to overturn the law project of smoke-free environments and measures respectively the prohibition of adding flavorings and restricting tobacco advertising in retail outlets in addition to increasing the area of warnings on cigarette packs. Unfortunately one more sad measure of the tobacco Industries marketing.

Tipping the Bill of smoke-free environments in Brazil, besides undemocratic, it’s a joke in bad taste compared to a kind of “trick or treats” during the  Halloween week  by those who should respect and safeguard public health in Brazil.
